The Clery Act Compliance Training Academy (formerly the Advanced Clery Act Training Class) is nationally recognized as the preeminent training program for teaching practitioners how to comply with the complex requirements of the Clery Act. The D. Stafford & Associates (DSA) team has provided instruction to more than 2,200 people since 2011. The Academy features expert instructors with significant knowledge, expertise and practical experience in conducting audits and training classes for DSA.
This five (5) day training academy is designed to be a comprehensive and intensive training experience. The Academy will include all elements of the Clery Act (which includes the 2008 HEOA security and safety requirements and the requirements of the Violence Against Women Act [VAWA] which became part of the law in 2013). This training academy experience will benefit individuals who have not had previous Clery Act training (we start with the basics and work into the advanced concepts) and those who want to enhance their knowledge of the law. The academy also includes a significant amount of training in classifying crimes according to UCR Guidelines. The academy features interactive instruction; group exercises; and use of an electronic testing system to reinforce the concepts learned in each block of instruction. Each attendee is provided with a pre-loaded thumb drive with more than 30 forms and documents that will assist the attendee in developing a system for compliance at their individual institution. The instructors review and explain the purpose and use of each document throughout the 5 days of instruction.
The Academy will also include an overview of the Title IX requirements and the intersections between Title IX and the Clery Act.
The Academy is an intensive 5 day class that is held from 8:00 am-5:00 pm on the first four days and 8:00 am-3:00 pm on the last day.
